Recycled Sea Creatures
Year Level: 3
Lesson Duration: 45 minutes
Learning Outcomes and Specific Purpose:
Students will create a sea creature/animal out of recycled materials. As a class they will put their art pieces together to create an underwater scene/display for the wall of their classroom. Through this activity students are 'Creating and making arts works involves imagination and experimentation; planning; the application of arts elements,
principles and/or conventions; skills, techniques and processes; media, materials, equipment and technologies; reflection; and refinement' (AusVels, n.d.).
Prerequisite knowledge and/or links to previous/future
lessons:
Prior to this lesson students must have completed the lesson "One man's trash is another man's treasure".
Resources Required:
Recycled Materials (bottles, magazines, cardboard, cans, straws, icy pole sticks,
toilet paper rolls etc. It is suggested that the teacher asks the students to bring in
any recycled materials from home a week or two before the class.
A range of glue products for the various materials (PVA, glue sticks, clag etc.)
Sticky tape

Split pins
Paint
Pencils
Textas
Workbook/Sketchpad
Assessment:
Students will be assessed on their creativity in regards to how they have used the
recycled materials. No formal assessment will take place for this activity.
